Roman Alexander has spent years carving out a place for himself in country music, earning nearly 100 million career streams. From singing Johnny Cash songs in Missouri bars at just eight years old to co-penning Dustin Lynch’s Top 20 hit “Party Mode,” his path has been fueled by grit, heart, and an unwavering connection to the Midwest.

Now, with the release of his brand-new EP Midwest Calling via Twelve6 Entertainment, Alexander delivers his most personal and autobiographical work yet, a six-song collection that reflects the landscapes, heartbreaks, and loyalty of the region that raised him.

The EP pairs his soulful baritone with polished country soul, featuring contributions from some of Nashville’s heaviest hitters, including Jessi AlexanderBrad TursiTrevor RosenCasey BrownJohn MorganJosh Kerr, and Will Bundy, among others. Alexander himself co-wrote five of the tracks, with the only outside cut being “Tying One On,” a song he says filled a needed gap in the project.

“I try to write as much as I can myself, but I’m always looking for gaps,” he told Fandom Daily. “When I heard this one, I thought, 'how has nobody cut this yet?' It felt perfect for the project.”

For Alexander, Midwest Calling is less about nostalgia and more about truth. The cover art, designed to look like a vintage basement, nods to his grandparents’ home and the timeless textures of Midwestern life. That visual, he says, mirrors the themes inside: songs about small-town breakups, late-night conversations, and the way the seasons shift emotions in ways city life never quite captures.

“A breakup in a Midwest small town feels different,” he said. “You’re going to run into those people everywhere, and the emotions feel tied to the weather, to the way the air changes. I wanted those aspects in the songs.”

Those stories — both tender and unflinching — reflect his own journey. Growing up in Missouri, Alexander saw loyalty and resilience modeled in everyday life, from his first job working at Hy-Vee. That spirit carries through the songs and through his fans, who Alexander says approach live music with a unique kind of devotion.

“The people are so loyal,” he explained. “In bigger cities, there are endless options, but when country music comes to places like Iowa, Missouri, or Nebraska, everyone piles in. They’re excited just to see live music.”

It’s that loyalty that has carried him from independent beginnings — where his debut Between You & Me produced the viral “Cocktail Conversations” and landed him on Spotify’s Hot Country playlist — to a new chapter defined by honest storytelling and refined artistry.

The new EP’s standout track “Way Over You,” co-written with close friends Jenn Scott and Matt McVaney, captures the ache of moving on too slowly, underscored by a striking black-and-white video filmed in Nashville.

“It’s about that in-between space, going through the motions while trying to make sense of how they let go so easily,” he said of the song.

Even as he celebrates the release of Midwest Calling, Alexander’s eyes are already on what’s next. After a few light touring years without an agent, he’s preparing to get back on the road in 2025, eager to bring these songs home to the stages and fans that shaped them. Until then, he’s staying busy on TikTok and social media, while also indulging in a season of college football.

Midwest Calling may be the third EP in Alexander’s catalog, but it feels like the first that truly brings everything full circle. With its blend of timeless imagery, Nashville craftsmanship, and the honesty of lived experience, the project cements him not only as a rising star but as a storyteller whose voice feels built to last.
