"Blake didn't reach out [following the engagement announcement] and isn't going to," a source told Daily Mail, bluntly adding, "This isn't the time. What would be the point of reaching out now? It really makes no sense. [Lively] has bigger fish to fry." 

Their once-iconic bond – remember, Swift is even the godmother to Lively's children – became collateral damage in Lively's high-stakes legal battle with It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

In 2025, Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit against Lively (and others), including a subpoena targeting Swift – drawing her into a private dispute she had no connection to. Swift reportedly felt "betrayed" and "exploited," and sources say she's now shutting the door entirely.

That legal drama deepened the rift. Lively allegedly tried repeatedly to reach out via texts, calls, and emails, but Swift isn't responding. 

According to insiders, "Taylor hasn't responded to any of Blake's pleas… She feels betrayed."  And now, with the engagement announcement, just one day after Lively's 38th birthday, no less, the silence cuts deeper, sending the friendship into confirmed radio silence.

"This is something that we would've talked about in the past, like what was going to happen, if she was going to be in the wedding, what that would look like. All of that," explained the source. "But now, it's just silence."

The source continued, "There's no 'will she or won't she' about Blake being in the wedding, because she just won't. She knows that, and I don't think she particularly wants to talk about that."
